TECHNOCRACY DESERVES OUR SERIOUS CONSIDERATIONI

The link above takes you to Skip Sievert's Technocracy blog. I am often challenged to offer a solution when I criticise some of the positions adhered to by my fellow activists. I am in the process of learning more myself, but I am becoming convinced that when we say we need to do something different, Technocracy, or something very similar to it, is what must ultimately happen. I urge you all to review the information on Technocracy, and let's engage in a discussion about it's strengths and weaknesses, and, even more importantly, about the feasibility of incorporating Technocracy into the liberation and empowerment movement in which we are currently engaged. In the spirit of the Exodus Mentality, I urge you to Free Your Mind.
Some of you are going to immediately put up your defenses based on your initial perception of the concepts embodied in the above statement on Technocracy. Your preconceived notions of how the world works, and the indoctrination you have been exposed to by simply living in the R/WS system where capitalism is king, will make you see socialism where there is none. I say this up front, because I have neither the time nor inclination to de-program anyone. Commentary indicative of an unwillingness or inability to view this concept outside of the normal parameters of your thought processes and experiences will in all likelihood be deleted. The discussion of this concept should not be sidetracked with dogma and determined resistance to something new simply because it resembles something old and outdated.
Beyond that I welcome thoughtful critique and I am hopeful that there will be others more knowledgeable than myself regarding Technocracy concepts and practical application who can further enlighten us all.

Genarlow Wilson Is A Free Man!

AJC had to run his prison picture with the story. Any little thing to keep the brothers down. I don't ever want to see that picture again.

Supreme Court frees Genarlow Wilson

By SCOTT THURSTON

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Published on: 10/26/07

The Georgia Supreme Court on Friday ordered the release of Genarlow Wilson, the Douglas County teenager who has been serving a controversial 10-year sentence for consensual oral sex.
The court's 4-3 decision upholds a Monroe County judge's ruling that the sentence constituted cruel and unusual punishment under both the Georgia and U.S. constitutions.

In a statement issued Friday, Attorney General Thurbert Baker said he will "respectfully acknowledge" the state Supreme Court's decision.
"I hope the court's decision will also put an end to this issue as a matter of contention in the hearts and minds of concerned Georgians and others across the country who have taken such a strong interest in the case," Baker said

Exodus Mentality says the esteemed Attorney General of the great state of Georgia is absolutely correct. This puts an end to the contention about this issue. Now it's on to the next one. So far this is going quite well for us.

A White Woman Who Actually Gets It...I'm Almost Speechless

Just when I thought I pretty much understood everything I needed to about white people, this white woman gives me a reason to hope that they aren't all completely incorrigible. Follow the link and read the whole thing because this excert isn't even the good part.

A White Person’s Meditation on the Jena 6 Students
Rev. Al Sharpton, Rev. Jesse Jackson, Congressman John Conyers, Martin Luther King III and the NAACP all agree that the charges should be dropped. But, many progressives are doubting that that is a fair answer. Try to put the situation and these people through the white prism: What if white students were facing charges, and Jimmy Carter, the Dalai Lama, Prince William, and the ACLU called for the charges to be dropped?

A great injustice happened to the black community of Jena. Nooses were hung in a tree, bringing up a painful history and frightening threats. The Jena school handled it very poorly, and more and more racial incidents happened. Young people from the black community were caught up in the conflict. The black community has gathered the information, gathered together, and determined what they think needs to be done to protect their young people. The black community has called for all the charges to be dropped against all the students.

If white people who are progressive, would like to sign onto this cause and help, that is wonderful. Those progressive white people should support what the black leaders and the families of these students have asked for. The progressive white people should do what we do for our own–provide moral support, court support and donations.

What is not needed, is for white people to start publicly expressing doubts about 6 young men already caught up in our white, racist criminal justice system.

Here is what white progressives need to do: Help or get out of the way.

So, dear white friends, I ask you as one white person to another, please do as you should, and join the chorus asking for all the charges to be dropped, or just be quiet. I beg you, do as your mother told you and, “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.

Gibson knew school shooter was white because "[b]lack shooters don't" shoot themselves; "they shoot and move on"

From Media Matters (and my question is should it "matter" to us that people like this continue to think this way)

On the October 10 broadcast of his nationally syndicated Fox News Radio show, while discussing 14-year-old Asa H. Coon, who earlier that day shot four people at his Cleveland high school before killing himself, Fox News host John Gibson asserted that "because the school is very heavily African-American, I did leap to a conclusion" that "the shooter might have been African-American." Gibson went on to say that he "knew this was not a classic hip-hop shooting" once he learned Coon killed himself.
