Is wall-to-wall Wright coverage more important than Iraq or gas prices or the climate crisis? No way. But Reverend Wright is a scary, shouting black man and scary shouting black men equal ratings-sweet-ratings. The reality is that only one of the candidates is being attacked for their connections when, in fact, all three candidates have controversial and embarrassing relationships. The difference, as near as I can tell, is that only one candidate has an angry, shouting black connection. And -- bonus! -- there's videotape of this angry, shouting black man suggesting that America is partly to blame for the attacks of September 11!

Wright is Right to Distrust USA The white-news media and white politicians play a game in which they demand apologies and denunciations and disavowals from Black people based on whites' sense of how much groveling we should do before they reject us as unacceptable.   We saw this in Jesse Jackson's campaigns, when whites demanded that he disavow the nation of Islam and apologize for his remarks.  And now we see it again today, as the white-news media demands that the meekest and humblest Sen. Barack Obama apologize for the existence of his ex-minister. The moderator asked the audience whether Wright should apologize for his "God damn America" remarks. Shouts of "No!" followed, and Wright used the occasion to demand an apology for slavery.  WaPost

Why is it that every time somebody who supports Obama says something, anything, Obama's gotta ditch 'em? There's something really degrading about telling a grown-ass man that you barely know that the only way you'll take him seriously is if he cuts loose people you don't like or who make you uncomfortable. It's like reducing that man to a child who can't think for himself without your help/approval.

The exact date you will receive your $300, $600 or $1,200 stimulus checks has been released by the IRS. The check date is based on the last two digits of your social security number.

NOTE: The payments below will only be issued to taxpayers after they file their tax return .

Even people who don’t normally file their taxes need to file a return this year if they wish to get their Economic Stimulus Payment.

All you need is qualify for a check is to have received $3,000 in income for 2007. This income can even be from benefits such as SSI or retirement benefits.
