Ideas That Might Work Get No Play

Why is it that simple straightforward solutions like this are not even a part of the mainstream public discourse in this country? Why aren't all of our "representatives" being told by their constituents that these are the types of solutions that we expect and demand.

Perhaps because the profit motivated are still pulling the strings?

An Alternative to the Auto Bailout

by Reede Stockton

As the Big Three US automakers ramp up their pressure on Congress to cough
up $25 billion in bailout money, the absence of a long term vision for
economic recovery has never been more clear.

We need an alternative vision of economic development that is fully
articulated and backed by a long term plan that builds momentum for a new
green economy.  Each new stimulus proposal must be evaluated in the context
of its contribution to building green infrastructure, providing training for
green careers and furthering a vision to build our local green economies.
In that context, it is easy to see how wasteful $25 billion for the US auto
industry would really be.

For Obama and the incoming Congress, it's important to forego the bailout of
the Big Three and develop a bold transportation alternative that reverses
the dysfunctional growth of our autombile-driven economy.

Why An Obama White House Will Remain White

The heart of Barack Obama’s attractiveness to White America, his celebrated ‘Race Speech’ of 2008, was in character, a poignant Emancipation Proclamation for the White settler society, a gesture meant to save face and retain the Union, not an identification of the originating factors of institutional racism or true granting of liberation from involuntary servitude.
His defence of White settler society and U.S. racial stratifications as historically legitimate is in line with the post-Civil Rights Era argument that while Indigenous depopulation and African involuntary servitude and racial marginalisation
He morally absolved the White racist American system, its history, its invading ancestors and the current settler population on behalf of the peoples irreparably damaged by this account with an authority given to him not by the minority classes in question he vicariously represents, but by the Euro-settler apparatus behind him

Sometimes Breach is A Good Thing

A lesson learned very early in contract law classes, sometimes it's a better financial decision to default on an obligation.

Are you an idiot to keep paying your mortgage?

Sunday, November 16, 2008

Should you keep paying your mortgage?

If you have significant equity in your home, absolutely.

If you don't, it's getting harder to answer that question, especially when our government keeps giving people who owe more than their homes are worth so many reasons not to pay.

Last week, the government announced a program that will substantially lower payments for many homeowners who have little or no equity, but only if they are at least 90 days delinquent.

The Federal Housing Administration is offering two programs to help homeowners get more-affordable mortgages, FHA Secure and Help for Homeowners. Neither requires borrowers to be current on their payments.

The program announced Monday goes a step further by requiring homeowners to be late.

Announcing the 44th President of the United States of America President Barack Obama

We are so very proud of Barack Obama. Forget our differences, what he has accomplished has to be the single most defining moment of my generation. I've been moved to silence, and that's no small thing. The first family, looks like my family, feels like my family. When President Obama spoke about the 106 year old woman in GA, I was thinking about my 101 year old grandmother, whose story he was telling. I've heard it from her.

Congtratulations to President Barack Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama, their children, and the Bidens.

I'm A Believer.
