Prestidigitiation
It never ceases to amaze me that otherwise intelligent and logical people can be so easily duped. It'a an illusion people. The question of whether or not OBL is dead should have been a non-starter from day one. There's no reason to think he isn't dead, and it doesn't really matter either way. What does matter is they have to keep your eye on the bouncing ball, so the illusion will work properly. While you are watching the left hand do nothing, the right hand is robbing you blind and putting shackles around your throat. Ask yourself this question. If GWB had suddenly announce the killing of OBL just before the 2008 elections, giving a boost in the polls to then candidate McCain, wouldn't everyone on the left be screaming and ranting and raving and demanding proof of death, with the right using the exact same arguments to resist presenting that proof? The point is that no matter which side does it, the other side responds the exact same way. It's obviously a game and it's not even original, just the same old parlor tricks. But for some reason, it continues to work. We'll spend the next few weeks engrossed in this nonsense, while they rape the national treasury again, through oil speculation this time. Time more folks realized that it takes the left and the right hand to pull of this scam.

Why Are You Celebrating? You Are Not Safer
You don't really believe that Osama Bin Ladin (OBL) is to blame for the Patriot Act and other manifestations of the erosion of personal liberty? This isn't even about "truthers" , although I am one, and I always get a kick out of how people have to totally misstate the position of those of us who don't believe the whole truth is being told about 9/11 in order to discredit that position. Why would it take thousands and thousands of conspirators to perpetrate the fraud of 9/11, when it apparently only took 20 relatively nondescript Arabs (the 19 hijackers and OBL) to pull it off in reality? The logical fallacies abound, and the comparison to the birther madness, with it's zero shred of any proof or even rational basis in reality, is absurd. But it's not even about that right now.
They had those "security" plans all ready to go, and they used 9/11 as an excuse. And they would have found or manufactured on if 9/11 had not occurred. And we went along with it, out of fear of what? That some dusty old Arabs were really coming to get us? It's already been established that 9/11 could have been prevented if certain people had heeded numerous warnings. So the apparatus to keep us "safe" was already there. The complete and total overkill security ridiculousness that has been in place since 9/11 is not a manifestation of fear of OBL or people like him; it is a straight gangsta control move by the powers that be right here at home.
As far as the celebrations go, no person of good conscience can justify the obscene gloating and sheer hatred that bubbled to the surface since the announcement. We've sent hundreds of thousands of troops and billions of dollars to eventually end up shooting an old unarmed dialysis patient. (Kind of like burning through 10 clips with a fully automatic Uzi to kill a mosquito.) Shot him in the face, "because he made a threatening move". Where have you Black folks heard that one before? Then dumped the body at sea. And nobody seems the least bit concerned that every shred of physical evidence related to 9/11 has been intentionally and hastily destroyed? Is this consistent with how justice and criminal investigations are typically handled? YOU KNOW IT'S NOT.
This celebration, and the events leading up to it, is just another page in the book of Amerikkka's perverted sense of justice. This is white privilege running out of control, and what's worse, the most long suffering victims of that perverse sense of justice are among those cheering the loudest at the extra-judicial killing of yet another brown man, who made a suspicious move. It is disgusting and shameful that we cannot remember that this is not the first time Massa has put the whip in the hands of a black overseer and sent him to do the dirty work. Forget long term memory, what happened to our short term memory? I'm disgusted with Black folks who for 8 years complained about George W. Bush killing Brown people; who have been witness to hundreds of years of legal and government sanctioned lynchings of Brown men, in the name of so-called justice; and now these same people are all of a sudden cool with the same thing because a Black man was holding the whip? So we proclaim this a victory for the Black president. Absolute insanity. And then we wonder why things aren't getting any better for us.
It is worth noting at this point, that the same people who told you that Osama Bin Ladin was the mastermind of 9/11 also gave you WMD's that didn't exists, torture that wasn't torture, extraordinary rendition, and a host of other lies and crimes that have been well documented, and, inconceivably, equally well ignored. So that vocal group of African Americans who look at this as another Presidential moment in the life and times of the Bringer of Hope and Change, might be exhibiting acute short term memory loss. Time was, they wouldn't believe anything the Bush administration put out there. Now, because President Obama has done the deed, it all of a sudden has more validity? At the very least, you would hope that someone who promised change and swore to uphold the law, would at least provide some proof that would stand up in a court of law, that OBL was indeed the guilty party. Seems like more of the same to me. Although the body in the chair changed, the program remains the same.
I've been told we have to believe in the President. Believe until you find out otherwise. Wow. Why? Why not demand concrete proof and evidence from our REPRESENTATIVES in government? Why allow someone to tell you they know what's best for you, but they can't give you the details because that's best for you? Those who would give up liberty for safety deserve neither and will ultimately get nothing. I don't let my own daddy tell me something that I have cause to question without providing substantiation. Why on earth would I put more faith in Obama or any member of government than I put in my own father.
And stop with the guilt trip about respecting the families of the victims. That's the kind of nonsense you fall back on when you know you have no tenable foundation for your position. That's the bullshyt they threw at Rashard Mendenhall for his Twitter comments. His comments DO NOT have even the slightest tinge of disrespect for the 9/11 victims. It is not disrespectful to a victim of a crime to demand that justice, real, due process, and transparent justice, is applied to anyone and everyone suspected of harming them. It is, in fact, an outrage and an affront to our system of justice, flawed though it may be, to suggest anything other than the fair, equal, and consistent application of justice and the law. Nobody else just gets to run out and string up the person they think is responsible for hurting them. Why should the relatives of the 9/11 victims be any different?
Nor is it disrespectful to our troops to question whether the mission to which they have been set is and honorable and just one. Art Rooney is racist and xenophobic in the extreme to even try to paint Rashard as unpatriotic. I decry from the highest heights the criminal acts of starting wars and fomenting regime change by force of arms in Iraq and other countries. That in no way signifies contempt for the soldiers who have been put in harms way. It IS, a complete indictment of the command structure that initiates the action.
It sickens me. The fact that so many people are still hoodwinked into thinking this was ever about one old bitter Muslim man on a dialysis machine, makes me wonder if the stupid people actually outnumber the thinking ones. I am completely and totally outraged that the United States government still feels like it's OK to hunt down and kill any person of color that dares stand up to it.
And yes, I am going to say it. I am beyond offended that this is now being done under the auspices of a man of color. Some of y'all aint gonna like that, gonna try to make more excuses and shift the blame and the discussion somewhere else. But this entire farce has been a celebration of U.S. imperialism, perpetrated by the Black figurehead of the empire. If you condone this, then when it's your turn to be eliminated, who do you think will cry for you?
We are all Americans. We all have a stake in this country and how this country co-exists with the rest of the world. Those of us who vehemently disagree with the imperialist nature of the past ten years of armed conflict in North Africa (improperly referred to as the "middle east), are no less patriotic, and show no less love for our country by our attempts to forge a better direction for us all.
